PART TIME CHILDREN’S MINISTRIES DIRECTOR
Location: Oceanside, California
Job Description: Children’s Ministry Director
Reporting To: Co-Lead Ministers
Hours: 18-22 hours per week
Pay: $24-$26/hr depending on experience
Benefits: 2 weeks of PTO
DESCRIPTION:
Do you have a passion for ministry to children, youth, and families? Are you committed to a Christianity of inclusion and social justice? Under the direction and supervision of the Co-Lead Ministers, the Children’s Ministry Director will coordinate fun, safe, and effective children’s ministry programming at The Oceanside Sanctuary in alignment with our values, vision, mission, and priorities.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan, organize, and lead Sunday Gathering children’s activities that nurture their understanding of a just and generous Christian spirituality.
Provide safe, nurturing, and growing children’s ministry spaces and events.
Foster an environment of creativity and respect for all children, volunteers and families.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Attend weekly staff meetings in-person.
Plan Sunday School programming for Sunday morning using an approved curriculum.
Be present at Sunday Gatherings for setup, worship, Sunday School oversight, fellowship, and breakdown (approximately 8 AM - 1 PM).
Recruit, train, and support Children’s ministry volunteers, service learning students and contractors and coordinate their involvement in children’s ministries.
Plan and facilitate special summer activities for children.
Work with other support staff to ensure accurate, timely, and consistent communication of all children programs through media channels.
Maintain an accurate administrative database, records, and files for your ministry.
Attend all church events as directed by the Co-Lead Ministers.
Other duties as assigned by the Co-Lead Ministers.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Undergraduate degreee or certificate in education, child development, ministry, or related field preferred.
2–3 years experience working with children’s ministries or educational programming
Curriculum planning and classroom management
Ability to train and coordinate volunteers
Clear communication with parents and leadership
Creative and inclusive approach to spiritual formation
Familiarity with safety and background check protocols
TYPICAL SCHEDULE
Sunday hours and midweek daytime office hours are required and will be determined with a supervisor based on a mutually beneficial schedule.
