How We Lead

The Oceanside Sanctuary is a Congregational church. That means we are not governed by our denomination, we govern ourselves as Members of the congregation. This form of democratic leadership makes us distinct from churches who are be governed by a hierarchy of bishops or elders, on the one hand, or churches who may not be answerable to any authority, on the other.

Being Congregational also means that the Members of our congregation have a voice in how our church is lead and governed. The Staff, Board of Elders, and congregational Members work together relationally to discern the Spirit’s leading for our church.
