Children’s Team
Our children’s team works together to create a safe, fun, and spirituality enriching classes for our kids during the teaching portion of our Sunday gatherings. All parents are asked to pitch-in as a cooperative effort to provide the best possible experience for our kids. For the safety of our kids, children’s volunteers are required to pass a basic background check.
Youth Team
Our youth team works together to foster safe and vibrant spaces for our youth to be empowered in their spiritual growth. For the safety of our kids, youth volunteers are required to pass a basic background check.
Sunday welcome Team
Our welcome team prepares coffee and communion and welcomes people as they arrive for church on Sundays. Team members generally serve one Sunday per month in teams of 2-3.
Sunday Safety Team
Our safety team keeps a close eye on our whole campus every Sunday morning to be on the lookout for any unsafe conditions or threatening situations. The safety of all our congregants is a high priority. Team members participate in a basic training and generally serve one Sunday per month in teams of 2.
Sunday Tech Team
Our tech team makes sure the sound, video, and live stream are running smoothly for our Sunday gatherings so congregants in-person and online can fully participate in our worship gatherings. Team members generally serve once per month.
Sunday Worship Band
Our band is made up of dedicated singers and musicians who create amazing music for our Sunday gatherings. We are always looking for skilled singers and musicians to join our team! Sign up below.
SANCTUARY Pantry Team
Our Pantry Team offers three main opportunities to volunteer: 1) Two days per week we pickup and sort rescued food from local grocery stores and distribute food boxes to food insecure households in our community, 2) Once per month a small team prepares a hot breakfast at Brother Bennos, and 3) 2-3 times per year we operate a resource fair on a Saturday.
150th Anniversary Weekend Celebration Team
Our big 150th anniversary celebration weekend is coming on November 22-23rd and we need lots of help to host a family carnival, Chili Cookoff contest, and Sunday celebration, all with food, games, and prizes! This will be a one-time volunteer effort, helping our party planning team oull together all the details. Can you help?
MAINTENANCE TEAM
Are you handy or do you enjoy gardening? We’re looking for volunteers willing to give just one weekday a month to help maintain our church building. Whether it’s fixing a leaky toilet, watering plants, touching up paint, or tackling other small projects, your help makes a big difference!
Community Group hosts
Do you enjoy hosting small gatherings of friends? You may be perfect as a Community Group host! Hosts facilitate safe and welcoming spaces for people to build connection, foster relationships, and grow together in their faith journeys. Community Groups typically meet 1-2 times per month, depending on group needs. Hosts are part of the larger leadership team at OSC, so we ask you to take our Leadership class, which is offered in the summer and winter.
Peer Partners
Peer Partners is a simple way for people in our church community to walk alongside each other during life’s transitions. Whether someone is adjusting to a new baby, has a spouse who is deployed, is caring for a child with special needs, or just going through a tough season, we pair them with a caring peer from our church who is willing to check-in once a month — not as a counselor, but as a friend.
Justice Works Team
Our Justice Works team pursues compassionate policies (city, county, state wide) that affirm dignity and promote the flourishing of all people. We generally meet monthly and work to advocate, organize, and host events that affect City, County, and State policy changes for the common good.
Anti-Racism Team
The Anti-Racism Team’s purpose is to help our church pursue its priority of becoming an antiracist congregation. We do this by hosting learning groups and events that lead us to a greater awareness of systemic racism and participate in events that foster inter-racial understanding and reconciliation.
Queer Committee
The Queer Committee collaborates to create safe, affirming, & enriching faith spaces for members of the LGBTQ community in accordance with these specific values, practices, and priorities of our church to “become a more empowering community for women, people of color, persons with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ persons.”
