The Sanctuary Community is an online space for members and friends of The Oceanside Sanctuary. Our goal is to cultivate an online expression of progressive Christian community that is:
A safe and inclusive space for progressive Christians to connect.
A place to be learn, grow, and be inspired by our common faith.
A hub for organizing to impact our communities for good.

Keep it Relevant: Try to keep discussions focused on topics and issues relevant to the vision and mission of The Oceanside Sanctuary quoted above.
Be Kind: We're all made in the image of God, which is just a theological way of saying we all inherently deserve kindness, dignity, and respect especially when we disagree.
Embrace Radical Inclusion: OSC is a woman-empowering, queer-celebrating, anti-racist congregation. We celebrate diversity, including a broad spectrum of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, ability, and theological traditions. Seek to value, appreciate, and learn from differences rather than eliminating them.
Do No Harm: The freedom for women to lead, the goodness of queer-sexualities and genders, and the reality of systemic racism are not up for debate in our community. Inclusivity ends where harm begins. Therefore, there is no space here for bigoted or hateful speech and ideas in our community. If you feel the need to debate these issues, this isn’t the community for you. In addition, our words, tone, and opinions can cause harm. Before expressing your “hot take,” carefully to consider whether your words will add value, insight, and healing to our community or cause unintentional harm.
Speak From Your Own Experience: Speak from your own lived experience. Don't speak for others and avoid generalizing your opinions or experiences to prove a point.
Respect Privacy: Don't share personal information about others without their explicit consent.
Report Concerns: If you see something that violates these guidelines, please let a moderator know.
