A casual gathering of food, friendship, and community.
Making meaningful adult friendships isn’t always easy for men. Between work, family, and the demands of everyday life, finding time to build genuine connections can be hard.
Doing so in religious spaces can be especially challenging because so many churches appeal to hyper-masculine tropes to build connection. These “manly” programs and events substitute masculinity for spirituality in ways that can be genuinely harmful by perpetuating ideas of dominance and control as expressions of true manhood.
So we’ve decided to poke a little fun at that with our first ever “Mansgiving” gathering.
Friendship is a genuine human need, even for men. Without it, we struggle to be not only happy, but healthy. And true friendship (and masculinity) aren’t built on dominance, they’re destroyed by it. This means we need to be intentional about cultivating friendship – a true spiritual practice that enriches our lives and strengthens our communities.
So we’re setting the table!
Come enjoy a potluck “friendsgiving” style meal at OSC. Meet some new people, reconnect with familiar faces, and explore what it means to practice friendship intentionally.
All men age 13 and older are welcome
