As we step into a new year at The Oceanside Sanctuary and a renewed vision and mission, you are invited to lean into community and help us cultivate a Christian spirituality “reclaiming its calling to be known for love, liberation, and the celebration of God’s image in all people.”
This October we are soft-launching our new community groups with fall “dinner and dialogue” gatherings in October and November, hosted by members of OSC (just like you!). These groups will be a great opportunity to build closer relationships and learn to have safe, open conversations about how the teachings of Jesus relate to our lives.
With fall arriving, we are launching “Branches”, our new 3-session leadership training class. This class will teach healthy leadership practices through three interactive Zoom sessions. This class will equip you to lead in an inclusive, inspiring, and impactful way in accordance with our core values and practices.
Our Sanctuary Band is growing and needs additional volunteer musicians and singers. If you are interested in learning more or would like to join our next Wednesday rehearsal, email joey@oceansidesanctuary.org.
We’ve learned a great deal together over the past eight weeks from scripture about the Art of Community: the priority of connecting with God’s transformational presence, how God liberates us from fear to embrace our differences, and how a community of difference empowered by the Spirit acts in genuine caring and loving ways. This is just the kind of community we hope to build at The Oceanside Sanctuary!
On May 2nd, national news media reported a leaked document indicating the Supreme Court of the United States would likely overturn Roe v. Wade. The next Sunday, we announced to the congregation that women at OSC would lead our church through this discussion. On June 24th this leak proved to be true.
Last Sunday at the annual congregational meeting, the members present (in-person and online) unanimously voted to approve the proposed FY 2022-2023 budget and Board slate. It has been an exceptionally good year at OSC and we want to share the decisions we made together and invite you to celebrate with us.
Since joining OSC as your Music Minister, I have worked hard to build a diverse, supportive, and talented group of folks in the Oceanside Sanctuary Music Ministry. You have entrusted me not only to facilitate worship, but also to foster a community of musicians and singers who come together for spiritual and musical growth.
