What is Mission 2025?

revisING & renewING our Mission Commitment

Mission 2025 was our process for revising and renewing our Mission Commitment for the 3-year period from January 2021 through December 2023. Update: In September 2023, our Board of Elders unanimously approved the extension of our current Mission Commitment through 2025. Our Mission Commitment sets the strategic direction for our church and includes statements of our values, vision, mission, and priorities.

A SNAPSHOT OF OUR process

Mission 2025 was designed to identify our deepest values from the ground-up, discern the leading of God’s spirit for our congregation, and commit to that sense of direction for a 3-year period. We do this by:

  • Listening carefully to our congregants and partners.

  • Assessing our own health as an organization.

  • Examining our community context.

  • Imagining what is possible through our expression of the gospel.

  • Deciding together how to articulate our commitment to those possibilities.

how did this process unfold?

September 2020

  • We conducted a series of open listening sessions for congregants to provide input on our values and practices as a church and how we might envision our future. You can watch any of those sessions by visiting our Listening Sessions page.

October 2020

  • We conducted an anonymous online congregational survey to evaluate the effectiveness of our previous Mission Commitment and get more input on how to envision our future. You can see the results of that survey by visiting our Congregational Survey page.

November 2020

  • We conducted an analysis of our church’s Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. That report can be viewed by visiting the SWOT Analysis page.

December 2020

  • We conducted a Community Needs Assessment to explore the demographics, religious attitudes, and social needs of our context, both locally and nationally. That report can be viewed by visiting the Community Needs Assessment page.

January 2021

  • On January 3rd we posted the first draft of our proposed Proposed Mission Commitment.

  • Between Jan 3rd and Jan 15th, we received congregational and community feedback on the Mission Commitment and publicly (but anonymously) post it to the Proposed Mission Commitment page for all congregants to review.

  • On Jan 17th we posted a revised draft of our proposed Mission Commitment, integrating the feedback we received.

  • On Jan 31st at 10 AM, we conducted a congregational meeting on Zoom to review the Mission Commitment and voted to adopt it.
